How to keep your Lash Extensions longer?

Eyelash extension maintenance, as daunting as it sounds, is quite manageable and is an important routine to keep your natural lashes stronger and extensions last longer. Here are some tips:

1) Choose the right type of lashes - type and weight

Often inexperienced or poorly trained practitioner would attach the same type of lashes on all of her clients which often results in lashes falling prematurely. It is very important to choose the ideal extensions that match the client's lash shape. I often use mixture of extension types on the same client to compensate for the different shapes and lengths of her natural lashes.

It is also important to consider the weight of the extensions. Gravity applies in all things and lighter lashes tend to stay a little longer. There are so many extensions available with added features such as split and flat ends to ensure the voluminous look despite their lighter weight.

2) Keep things away from your extensions

Do not rub so close and keep those heavy night creams away from the extensions. Often, they are oil products and will dissolve those lash adhesives right out. You can use cotton swabs around the area if you must.

3) Include eyelash serums to your everyday routine.

Extensions are placed on the lashes and it's only as strong as your natural lash. Serums will strengthen and lengthen your natural lashes which in the long run will give you much more satisfying look after extension. Eyelash sealers can help maintain the adhesion of the extensions when applied every morning as well.

4) Avoid bad habits

Where do I begin? I'll give a few major ones. Don't sleep on your stomach. Try to sleep on your back to keep the extensions intact. If you use sleep masks, use the contoured ones that keep distance from your eyelids. Do not apply Mascara with extensions. If you want the fluffier look, go with the mega-volume set. Stay away from Mascara! Do not pull on your extensions. Even when it's just dangling there, pulling it out can unnecessarily place strain on your natural lashes. Be gentle and try to let it run its course as the glue eventually loses its adhesion.
